Assembling the clock body
In order to house the DC or K'NEX motor, I needed a body large enough to hold and cover it. As the clock needed to give the illusion it's melting, I couldn't construct the back without making that also look as though it's melting. Therefore, I designed it to follow the structure of the melting clock face. Making the clock face/front appear as though it's heavy/stretching more towards the ground, enabled me to construct the clock body in a way that could make it: (1) more discreet, I didn't want the bulkiness of the back to disfeature the melting clock face; and (2) create the effect that it's also melting towards the same point as the melting clock face.
